The Best Keyboard for iPad is Coming to the iPad Pro

While the Magic Keyboard was widely regarded as an excellent keyboard, I ended up being quite disappointed with Apple’s $300 flagship accessory for the iPad Pro. So much so that I sold my iPad Pro and bought an iPad 7th Generation. The iPad 7th Generation is worse in nearly every way, except for one: it was compatible with Logitech’s Combo Touch Keyboard, which converts your iPad into a Surface-like laptop replacement. I adore the Combo Keyboard, and I just wished that Logitech would bring the excellence to the iPad Pro. Well, my wish was just granted. Reported in an article from Business Wire, Logitech will make the new Folio Touch keyboard available for some time this month, for an expected price at $160. If this is true, Logitech will undercut both the Magic Keyboard ($300) and Brydge’s Pro Plus Keyboard ($200).

It appears that the Folio Touch keyboard connects to the iPad Pro via the pogo pins at the back, but that calls into question whether the keyboard will be detachable like the one on the Combo Touch. The Combo Touch keyboard magnetized to the bottom, and therefore it could be detached and the case and kickstand could be used alone. From the product videos, it doesn’t appear the Folio Touch will have the same features.

I’m not sure why Logitech did not announce the Folio Touch keyboard with the launch of the new iPad Pro 2020 and trackpad support, but now I might just have to get a new iPad Pro so I can experience the best of the best.
